tep 1: Check for Level and Plumb
Before you pull the tape measure, check your walls.
- Use a level to see if your walls are straight.
- Pro Tip: If your walls are out of plumb (not perfectly vertical), don’t worry. Our New York fabrication process can accommodate slight angles, but we need to know!
Step 2: Measure the Width
Measure the width of the opening in three places:
- The bottom (where the door/panel will sit).
- The middle.
- The top (where the door/panel will end).
- Always provide us with the smallest of the three measurements.
Step 3: Measure the Height
Measure from the base (curb or floor) up to where you want the glass to stop.
- Note: Standard height is usually 72″ or 76″, but since we fabricate in-house, we can do any height you need.
Step 4: Check for Obstructions
Look for shower heads, towel bars, or toilets that might interfere with a door swinging outward.
- If space is tight, a Sliding Door (like our DEN180 or NAPA180) is often the best choice.
3. The “Don’t Forget” Checklist
Fabricator’s Note: Always measure after your tile or marble is fully installed. Measuring the “raw” studs will result in a door that doesn’t fit!
